DOJ GEN sends Flexible Work Options letter to DOJ leadership
DOJ GEN sent a letter today to the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, and Associate Attorney General to express concern about the Department’s plan to propose a new policy for substantially increasing in-person work following the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)’s April 13, 2023, memorandum M-23-15. DOJ GEN is concerned that the Department’s apparent haste and lack of comprehensive study, including constructive employee feedback, in the development of such a policy will have a negative impact on the Department’s ability to retain and recruit a productive, diverse, and talented workforce.

Updates on not one, but two, recent victories on issues that DOJ GEN has been vociferously advocating: the creation of a DOJ Sexual Misconduct Response Unit, and a proposed rule that would ban the use of salary history in federal hiring. In addition, this message provides an update on DOJ GEN’s advocacy on abortion access and federal coverage of fertility benefits.

Big step toward pay equity!
On March 15, President Biden signed an executive order requiring OPM to issue new rules on the use of salary history in federal employment. While this is an important step, we think it may not go far enough to close the pay gap.
